CANDLE Persona Webinar

We invite all interested stakeholders to join CANDLE’s National Cancer Data Nodes Persona Webinar! This session is taking place on November 26th, 14:00 – 15:30 CET.

In this workshop, attendees will build personas with us, mapped to the functions of the National Cancer Data Nodes and the European Health Data Space context. Personas represent user groups of a service and help make their needs more tangible, and we will apply this concept to help Member States build National Cancer Data Nodes that meet their users’ needs.

CANDLE Kick-off Meeting

The CANDLE Kick-off Meeting, held from June 16th to 17th in Amsterdam, was a success! During the first day of meetings we explored the what and how of building National Cancer Data Nodes: from coordination (WP1 | Robin Navest), users and conceptualization (WP2 | Tomi P. Mäkelä), to technical connection (WP3 | Alfonso Valencia), maturation models (WP4 | Daniel Barrowdale), as well as communication, stakeholder connections, and policy (WP5 | Carola Schulz, Griselda Marku, Sudeep Das, Richard Price).

The second day of sessions dived deeper into multiple topics of interest: the EU Mission on Cancer (Angelo Solimini | European Commission) and DG CNCT’s perspective on the CANDLE project (Aleksandra Wesolowska | European Commission), as well as our partner projects UNCAN-CONNECT (Kadi-Liis Veiman | Estonian Cancer Network), EU-CIP: Cancer Information Portal (Carsten Canitz | Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin), and ECHoS | Establishing of Cancer Mission Hubs: Networks and Synergies (Hugo Soares | AICIB), their planned activities, and alignment with CANDLE.

CANDLE at the EUNetCCC 2025 Annual Meeting

The CANDLE team spent two days at the EUnetCCCAnnual Meeting in Paris, engaging deeply with cancer data stakeholders from across Europe.

The dedicated CANDLE booth, coordinated by Carola Schulz of empirica, attracted visitors who identified fragmented infrastructure and legal uncertainty as the biggest blockers to cancer data sharing in their countries.

In the panel discussion "Unlocking Cancer Data", Tomi P. Mäkelä presented CANDLE's work to support National Cancer Data Nodes, alongside other panellists. He highlighted their role in creating a connected cancer data infrastructure.
